Jacksonville Real Estate Ramblings: My point2 agent experience thus far........

My point2 agent experience thus far........

SUCKS!

Sorry to start off so yucky, but I'm just having a terrible time with point2 agent site. It all started when I tried to I just Google to find me!change my template and I picked one that wasn't just for the paid sites. It never changed! Then they couldn't confirm my real estate license electronically, so I had to fax a copy to them. Did that, still not confirmed! So my undiagnosed ADD kicked in and I stopped messing with it.

Today....I managed to change my template, still not to one I wanted but hey it's different. Then I decided I was going to add some listings, figure out the handshake thing and start handshaking. I'm still not confirmed!

What's up with this neighborhood thing? I tried to add a listing which is not in a neighborhood (subdivision) at all, the map had my listing some where far away from here and I couldn't figure out how to fix anything. I went to the message boards only to find others as frustrated and no answer.

Gosh! I catch on to things pretty fast, I don't fight change, actually love change but I got to tell you that I'm not liking this and I'm going to park my new domain name and move in a different direction.

Before I completely throw in the towel, is there anyone who can give me some advice?

HI Pam, I'm a Point 2 certified VA and although I haven't experienced your kind of trouble before, I do know that sometimes things can seem to get snagged from time to time. I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet, it still sounds workable.

As far as listings/neighborhoods are concerned, if you are adding a listing to a neighborhood not listed, you can add it yourself. There should be a link at the bottom of the neighborhood box that says "add neighborhood", which will then be mapped.

Let me know if you would like me to take a peek;)

Pam,
That doesn't sound like much fun. :-( If the new template is live now I quite like it, but the GMAC for sale sign logo is too small.

Sadly I can't help with the lic. issue. I imagine you've already emailed support.

You should be able to suggest a new neighbourhood. The place where the house must have some kind of name. Under location >> Select NLS selling area: >> drill down as far as makes sense and then click "Add Missing" at the bottom.

As far as the map goes you can move that pin wherever you want it to be by clicking & dragging it. If that doesn't work you can go to google maps and find the location then click on Link to this Page in the top right of the map and you get a long ugly URL that includes the latitude and longitude. It will look like this:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=jacksonville+fla&ie=UTF8&ll=30.362211,-81.655884&spn=0.552181,0.925598&z=10&iwloc=addr&om=0

I've bolded the latitude and longitude above. Don't forget the negative ( - ) sing before the longitude.

Wel its not much but I hope that helps. I have had great luck with point2 and with no professional help have managed to get my site to page 1 or 2 (depending on the day) of google for Vancouver real estate and real estate Vancouver (not the same results funnily enough). I upgraded to the Pro site and year ago and it has made all the differnce, especially the blog.

If you are going to throw in the towel with Point2 (and I hope you don't) then may I suggest UBERTOR.com. They are extremely popular here and I've heard great things about their back end from people who have used Point2 in the past. But stick with Point2 I think they SEO better!!

Laura-Thank you for the tip on adding neighborhoods! I may try again in a day or two. :)

Matthew-Thanks for the tips. Your site looks great. I have another site with Advanced access and was trying point2 to see how they were.

Hey Pam,

Sorry to here that you did not have a good first user experience. Please note that we offer unlimited email support to our free membership level so if you are having problems please don't hesitate to drop us a question by clicking the contact support link from within your Online Office.

Also, don't forget to visit the many resource available through the point2 nls site. I highly recommend the user manual or our message board.

Roland-I haven't tried email support. I know they respond fairly quickly on the message boards.

Jesse-I haven't really utilized the resources much because I just don't have time. If I have difficulty with a little issue of changing the template (not one just for the paid sites) then my brain fogs over and moves on to the next thing. I'm going to leave it be for the moment, perhaps do a little tweaking here and there to keep it active until I completely decide what I'm going to do. Thanks for your reply.

i would like to add that point2 agent sucks.  their staff are absolutely clueless about most things.  they can not answer simple service-provider-level questions.  their sites load slowly.  i hate working with them.

hates point2-Sounds like a bad experience. I have decided not to use them and have opted for a blogsite by RSS Pieces instead.

Their support is as slow as a turtle.  One rep answered my question but I did not understand what he was talking about.  I started the free trial few days ago but with their support knowledge I may not go with it.
